Perth, Australia – Day 5

Today, we headed down to the Perth City once again; this time, I had my camera with me! What I love about the city is that on every weekend, there will be freelance performers putting their skills into play along the city square. Be it singing, instrumental playing or dancing, everyone will start to gather around to watch and cheer on.

Today was yet another burning sunny day! Sun block was indeed a staple food for our skin. Seen above is a picture of the clock tower which signifies the city square. Notice the guy by the lamp pose in the bottom left corner of the photo? He is an Australian Aborigine playing their traditional horn – Didgeridoo. Whilst capturing a shot of the clock tower, he was somehow too vain to have thought that I wanted to snap a picture of him. Hence, he shied away and obstructed the visibility of his face with his bag.

Carillon City is a shopping mall in the heart of Perth City. We headed to the mall’s Food Court for lunch at 1PM and became merged into a whopping massive lunch crowd. The food court here was very much unlike the food courts back at home. It’s hygiene standard and offerings were really good. Out of 10 stalls, a minimum of 5 stalls would be offering hearty wholemeal, sugarless, saltless, preservative-less, artificial-flavourless foods! My cup of tea indeed!

My lunch meal for today was a Vegetable Pita from Pure Natural. As its label suggests, it was a fast fresh 100% healthy food!

Above is a picture of the Caesar Chicken Pita Wrap, also from Pure Natural. Back at home, healthy food is only catered for the niche healthy consumer market. Therefore, it would be charged with a premium price. Fortunately here in Australia, people have arrived at a healthy sensible stage, to want to eat healthily to preserve their well being. This in turn creates a high demand for such food, resulting to a cheaper cost of supply.

My sister and Fiona ordered Kebabs for their lunches. It seems that if you were to pronounce Kebab as ‘Ker Barb’, the people wouldn’t get what you are saying as it should rightfully be pronounced as ‘Ke Behb’ The ‘bab’ is meant to sound like ‘tap’ but with a B instead of a T at the begining. Once again, it was delightful to see the cashiers and cooks to be local Aussie employees instead of foreign cheap labors who cannot understand basic English (you know what I’m trying to imply).

After lunch, we continued to stroll the streets. It’s strange of how Malaysia boasts of its “truly asia”-ness. Check out the picture above, and scrutinize at the profile of the people pacing the streets.

The harsh weather caused us to be dehydrated, forcing us to seek refuge at this bubble tea shop – Utopia. Seemingly, this is the favourite city bubble tea kiosk for many people to grab hold of a chilly icy drink.

I’d reckon that AUD 5 on average for a basic bubble tea, is fairly reasonable in a dollar to dollar mode of comparison. This bubble tea shop appeals very well to the Asians, typically Hongkies and Taiwanese; on top of that, even the Aussies had their taste-buds tuned  for such beverage!

Our last stop for the day was Matilda Bay. It is a restaurant located at the bay at the foothill of King’s Park. Seen above is a picture taken from the bay, overlooking the private yachts, with the city’s skyscrapers at the background.

All these yachts are actually private owned. Based on my understanding, it seems that this is where the Perth people put their luxury investments into. Instead of getting themselves a Porsche, they’d rather get themselves a yacht first!

After enjoying the soothing sight of the calm waters of the Swan river, we made our way into the Matilda Bay Restaurant, for a dine of finesse. Above is the picture of my family (having me absent).

Our arrival at the restaurant was greeted with complimentary Baguettes with an assortment of dips. Having placed our orders, we started our yappy chatters. Soon our meals arrived. Below are some of the food shots! Enjoy!
